DLR taking soundings on Gyrocopter | 19 August 2011

On 19th of August 2011 we presented for the first time the Magni Orion M24 Gyrocopter to the head of the DLR Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics, Prof. Dr. Gerd Hirzinger and to Prof. Dr. Konstantin Kondak. In the following weeks we made tests on 4-blade rotorsystem, an autopilot system and APU / fuel cell. Unfortunately the M24 turned out not to meet the requirements due to high vibrations and problems with the power supply.

The scientists plan now to use the new developed DiNelly Gyrocopter for further testings as this high-end platform is especially designed for heavy duty operation.  We -of course- highly appreciate this decision and are looking forward to the future collaboration.
